Note :- The distributive property is a multiplication property that is applied in both addition and subtraction.

 

  1. A taxi-driver, filled his car petrol tank with 40 liters of petrol on Monday. The next day, he filled the tank with 50 liters of petrol. If the petrol costs  44 per liter, how much did he spend in all on petrol?

 

Solution :-

  • On Monday Petrol filled – 40 liters.
  • On Next day – 50 liters
  • Total petrol = 40+50 = 90
  • Price for 1-liter petrol is 44 so the price for 90-liter petrol will be
  • 44 x 90 =  3960.00
  • So, he spends 3960 Rs. On petrol.

 

  1. A vendor supplies 32 liters of milk to a hotel in a morning and 68 liters of milk in the evening. If the milk costs ` 15 per liter, how much money is due to the vendor per day?

Solution:-

  • Milk in Morning = 32 liters
  • Milk in evening = 68 liters
  • Total milk per day = 32+68 = 100
  • Price of 1 liter of milk = 15
  • 100 liter milk price = 100 x 15 = 1500
  • Money due to the vendor per day is rs 1500
