A-Fourth Generation computers incorporate microprocessor technology, and are equipped with input and output devices such as keyboard, mouse, monitor, and printer. These computers rely on specialized software, such as RDBMS, to manage vast amounts of data.

ABACUS

The first known mechanical calculating device was called the Abacus, which originated in China. It consisted of a wooden frame with rods containing beads, and was divided into two sections known as “Heaven” and “Earth”. This device was primarily used for performing calculations.

 

Boolean logic

George Boole developed a way of solving math problems by asking questions that can be answered with “yes” or “no”. He then linked these questions to the binary system, where “yes” is represented by 1 and “no” by 0. This method, known as Boolean logic, is used to design computer circuits.
