Factors of 36 – Prime Factorisation of 36

Divide 36 by 5 gives = 7.2, the result is NOT a whole number so 5 is NOT a factor)

 

Divide 36 by 6 gives = 6, the result is a whole number so 6 is a factor)

 

Repeat the process, dividing 36 by 6,7,8, …, 36, and if the result is a whole number, then the number is a factor.

So the factors of 36 would be: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 36.

 

How to calculate prime factorization of 36

 

To calculate prime factorization we have to calculate the LCM

 

The prime factors of 36 are  2 x 2 x 3 x 3

 

We know that the number which has more than two factors is called composite number.36 has more then 2 factors so it is composite number.
