The Narmada Basin is characterized by the Narmada River originating from the Amarkantak plateau in Madhya Pradesh. It flows westward, forming a rift valley, and meets the Arabian Sea. The basin is rocky with shorter tributaries meeting at right angles.

 

(3) Describe in detail the Krishna and Kaveri basins.
The Krishna Basin originates near Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra and stretches through Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The Kaveri Basin starts from the Brahmagiri Range in the Western Ghats and extends through Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
