Subject and Predicate Worksheet

Subject and Predicate Worksheet – In grammar, a sentence is typically made up of two main elements: the subject and the predicate.

The subject is the person, place, thing, or idea that the sentence is about. It typically comes at the beginning of the sentence and tells us who or what is doing the action or being described. For example, in the sentence “The cat is sleeping,” “cat” is the subject.

The predicate is the part of the sentence that tells us something about the subject, usually describing an action or state of being. It typically comes after the subject and contains a verb. For example, in the sentence “The cat is sleeping,” “is sleeping” is the predicate.

Together, the subject and predicate make up a complete sentence that expresses a complete thought or idea.
