The first Wildlife Day was celebrated in 2014

In 2013, Thailand proposed World Wildlife Day at the 16th Convention of the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) in Bangkok.

A UN General Assembly resolution appointed the Sites Secretariat to be the instructor for the ‘World Wildlife Day’.

During World Wildlife Day 2022, the theme will be “Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration.”

The theme of World Wildlife Day 2021 was “Forest and Livelihood: Sustaining People and Planet”

The theme of World Wildlife Day 2020 is “Sustaining All Life On Earth”
