Pollution refers to any harmful change in air, water, land, or any other aspect of the environment due to human action. The things that cause pollution are known as pollutants.

 

(b) Name any two clean energy sources.
Two clean energy sources are solar energy and wind power.

 

(c) What are the main types of pollution?
The main types of pollution are air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution, and nuclear pollution.

 

(d) In which two categories can waste be divided?
Waste can be divided into biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable waste.

 

(e) Suggest one solution to soil pollution.
One solution to soil pollution is to minimize the use of plastic and polythene items, as they do not biodegrade and harm the soil.

 

(f) How are the rivers getting polluted?
Rivers get polluted through the dumping of industrial and agricultural wastes, as well as the disposal of sewage waste from towns and cities.

 

(g) What is recycling? How is it useful?
Recycling is the process of producing a new product from used or waste material. It is useful as it helps save raw materials, reduces energy consumption, and minimizes pollution.
