  • Describe water pollution, cause, effects and factors responsible for that?
  • Describe noise pollution?
  • Describe soil pollution?

Pollution: –

The act of adding harmful substances to the air, water, and land is known as pollution. These harmful substances are called pollutants

Types of Pollution

Pollution can be classified into four main types:

Air Pollution,

Water Pollution,

Noise Pollution

Soil Pollution.

AIR POLLUTION

A mixture of harmful gases and other particles in the air is called air pollution. Air pollution harms the plants due to the presence of pollutants in the air, most plants are unable to prepare food properly. The plants grow slowly as a result. They slowly lose strength and eventually die.

CAUSE OF AIR POLLUTION

Natural sources of air pollution include sandstorms, forest fires, and pollen from plants and flowers.

In contrast, air pollution caused by human activities includes smoke from factories, smoke from vehicles, etc.

WATER POLLUTION

Pollution of water occurs due to human activities like the disposal of household and sewage waste, the leakage of oil tanks, and waste containing harmful chemicals.

EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION

Plants and animals that live in water are affected by pollution. These animals become weak and die slowly. The presence of pollutants in the water prevents plants from preparing food and retards their growth. When animals consume this polluted water, they become sick.

FACTORS OF WATER POLLUTION

Two factors contribute to water pollution:

Man made and Natural factors

Natural factors are: – storms can dissolve soil and other particles into water, making the water polluted.

Manmade factors are: – Factory wastes, including harmful chemicals, are dumped.Taking a bath and washing clothes in rivers.Disposing of household waste and untreated sewage into water sources.

NOISE POLLUTION-

Loud noise or sound pollution is the presence of loud sounds in the atmosphere. All animals and humans suffer from loud noises.

EFFECTS OF NOISE

Noise pollution harms us in the following ways:

Headaches, stress, and irritation

Hearing loss

Insomnia

CAUSE OF NOISE POLLUTION-

The main causes of noise pollution are: –

Car & bus horns , Loud Music , Aeroplane

Fire crackers, Loud speakers , Machines in factories

Note- Sound intensity is measured in decibels. Decibel is a unit where the sound intensity is measured. If the sound is greater than 90 decibels, it can harm our hearing.

SOIL POLLUTION

Whenever solid waste is disposed of on the land, it pollutes the soil, making it infertile and harmful to all living organisms. It also harms plants.

CAUSE OF SOIL POLLUTION

The main sources of soil pollution are: –

  • Continuous use of pesticides and fertilizers on a piece of land.
  • When industrial waste and other non-biodegradable waste are dumped on land.
  • Waste that is solid, such as garbage.
  • Refusal from mines
  • Agricultural and forest refuse.

How to reduce pollution

By planting saplings and keeping our environment clean, we reduce pollution
