Section E: Long Answer Questions
1. We breathe through our nose. Air passes through the nostrils, goes down the throat, through the larynx, and enters the trachea (windpipe). The trachea divides into bronchi, then bronchioles, and finally into air sacs in the lungs where the gas exchange happens.
2. The lungs help us to breathe in oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. They are soft and protected by the rib cage. Oxygen from the air is mixed into our blood, and waste gases like carbon dioxide are removed. This helps the body get clean air and stay healthy.
3. Food is first chewed in the mouth using teeth. It goes down the food pipe to the stomach where it gets mixed with juices and becomes a semi-solid paste. Then the food moves into the small intestine, where digestion is finished and nutrients are absorbed.
