Fibers that are synthesized in laboratory are called manmade fiber.

Q. Explain the life cycle of silkworm?

The silk moth is a type of insect (that looks like a butterfly). Because silk moths do not form directly from eggs, the life history of silk moth is quite interesting. An adult silk moth passes through two stages called larvae (also called caterpillars) and pupa before it can emerge from the egg.

The larva (or caterpillar) of a silk moth which produces silk is called silkworm.

The process of selecting parent sheep for obtaining special characteristics in their offspring (such as soft under-hair) is called ‘selective breeding’.

The process of washing the fleece (cut hair of sheep) that removes dust, dirt, dried sweat and grease is called scouring.

 

Q. What is sorting?

The process of separating the fleece of a sheep into sections according to the quality of woolen fibers (such as fine, coarse, long, short, etc.) Is called sorting.
