(a) Use of metals
The use of metals throughout human history has made an important contribution to technological and cultural development. Copper was the first metal used by humans from the Stone Age to the Copper Age. Gold, was too soft to make practical devices.

The growth of trade has been an important factor in the emergence and development of cities. However, the culture of those cities was from rural settlements of the Neolithic era. There was faith in the agricultural lifestyle even in the urban lifestyle. The growth of trade gave rise to social life and festivals based on agricultural belief systems. Big temples were built in many cities. The heads of those temples controlled those cities. Later one person became the king and head of the temple. This was the beginning of the world’s ancient urban civilizations.
