Maharashtra State Board Class 7 Science Effects of Light Notes / Textbook Exercises and Extra Question and Answers.

Effects of Light Key Points:

Light is composed of various colors, and we can see beams of light when tiny dust particles scatter the light rays.

The scattering of sunlight by dust and particles in the atmosphere is what makes the sky appear bright during the day and colorful during sunrise and sunset.

Sunlight is scattered by molecules of gases in the atmosphere, with blue light scattering the most, making the sky appear blue.

An eclipse occurs when the sun, moon, and earth align in a straight line.

Solar eclipse happens when the moon comes between the sun and the earth, casting a shadow on the earth. It can be partial or total.

Lunar eclipse occurs when the earth comes between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow on the moon. It can be total or partial.

Watching a solar eclipse with the naked eye is dangerous, and special goggles should be used.

Lunar eclipses can be safely observed with the naked eye.

Eclipses, occultations, and other celestial phenomena are common in the solar system.

A “zero shadow day” occurs when the sun is directly overhead, and shadows disappear at noon. It’s observed in the region between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.

Superstitions related to eclipses exist in society, but it’s important to promote scientific understanding and dispel superstitions.
