Percentage is a short form of the Latin word “per centum,” which means out of one hundred.

Example –

38% = 38/100

 

Find 50% of 2 Kg.

Solution-

1 kg = 1000 gm

So 2 kg = 2000 gm

50% of 2000 gm = 50/100 * 2000 = 1000 gm

Find the following

2.5% of 80 kg

50% of 60m

20% of 400 l

5% of Rs. 60

20% of 600

Problem Sums-

 

A man spends 20% of their income on rent. If he earn Rs 14500.00 a month, what is their monthly rent?

 

Rent = 20% of 14500 = 30/100 * 14500

= 2900 Rs.
