‘Average’ simply indicates other values within a group based on a single value.
By taking the sum of all the given values and dividing it by the number of values, we can find the average.
Formula of Average in Maths
Average = sum of the values / number of values
Example – Find the average of even numbers between 1 & 10.
Solution – Even numbers between 1 & 10 are 2, 4, 6, 8, 10,
Sum of even numbers = 2+4+6+8+10 = 30
Average = Sum of even numbers / number of even numbers = 30/5 = 6
Thus the average of even numbers between 1 & 10 is 6.
In an office canteen the number of baked samosa were sole in one week from Monday to Friday: 140,320,440,250,180. Find the average number of samosas sold in one day.
