  • The Torrid Zone
  • The Temperate Zones
  • The Frigid Zones

Explain torrid zone?

Ans: The Torrid Zone is the area on both sides of the Equator, between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. Torrid means extremely hot. It receives maximum heat since it lies near the Equator.

Explain temperate zone?

Ans: Temperate zones are areas between the Tropic of Cancer and the Arctic Circle in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Tropic of Capricorn and Antarctic Circle in the Southern Hemisphere. There is a mild climate in this area, neither very hot nor very cold.

Explain frigid zone?

Ans: In both hemispheres, areas between the Arctic Circle and the North Pole receive very little heat from the sun. They are cold all year long, and large parts are covered in snow. These are called frigid zones.

Why is the peak of mountains always covered with snow?

Ans: Snow covers the peaks of high mountains throughout the year. As a result, the higher a place is above sea level, the cooler its climate.

What factors affect the weather?

Ans: Factors affecting the weather include cold, heat, rain, humidity, dryness, storms or clouds, and clarity of the sky or cloudiness.

Define Humidity?

Ans: Humidity refers to the amount of water vapour in the air. It affects precipitation and rainfall.

Define tundra region.

Ans: Tundra is the coldest region on earth, with permanently frozen ground for most of the year. It receives less than 15 inches of rainfall per year. The summers are short and the winters are harsh.

Differentiate between weather and climate.

Ans: Weather is the change in atmospheric conditions from day to day. The weather tends to change very frequently, while the climate, on the other hand, is a long-term evaluation of the conditions of the atmosphere in a particular area.

What causes the equator to be so hot?

Ans: Due to the tilt of the Earth, the Equator receives direct sunlight and is therefore so hot because it is closer to the sun. The Equator has a smaller surface area, so it heats up more quickly than the poles.

Water plays an important role in regulating climate change, how?

Ans: Water plays an important role in climate change. It controls precipitation or rainfall in a region. As a result, it changes the overall climatic conditions.
