(3) Which are the major types of rocks? State them.

(4) State the soil formation process.
Soil formation process involves the denudation of rocks, deposition of rock material into layers, and mixing with biotic matter, air, and water.

(1) Deposition
Deposition is the process by which sediments, soil, and rocks are added to a landform or landmass, typically by wind, water, or ice.

 

(2) Bangar
Bangar is the term used for old alluvium soil found in the upper valley region of a river, characterized by its sticky texture and dark color.

 

(3) Mineral
A mineral is a naturally occurring inorganic substance with a specific chemical composition and crystalline structure.

 

(4) Rock
A rock is a solid composite material made up of one or more minerals, formed through geological processes such as cooling and solidification of magma or by sedimentation and consolidation of sediment.

 

(5) Soil
Soil is a mixture of organic and inorganic matter found on the surface of the Earth, consisting of minerals, organic matter, water, air, and living organisms, and is essential for plant growth and agriculture.

 

3.Write to-the-point answers of the following questions :

 

(1) Archipelagos of India
The archipelagos of India include Andaman-Nicobar and Lakshadweep, with Andaman-Nicobar being located in the Bay of Bengal and Lakshadweep off the coast of Kerala.
