What is Money?
Money is used to buy things or sell things in our life.
Some important facts about money are
Unit of money in India is the rupee
1 rupee equal to 100 paise
Money is a combination of rupees and paise a point or dot is used to separate the rupees and paise
Example — 50.25 means 50 rupees 25 paise
Conversion of rupees into paise
We know that
1 rupee = 100 paisa
So if we want to convert rupees into paisa we multiply the rupee number by 100
Example
Rupees 15 = 15 x 100 = 1500 paisa
Rupees 7.25 = [7×100]+25p = 725 paisa
Rupess 50.50 = [50×100]+50 =5050 paisa
Exercise convert into paise
Rs. – 12
Solution – [12 x 100 = 1200 ]
Rs. – 15.50
Solution – [15 x 100 ] + 50 = 1550
Rs. – 22.75
Solution – [22 x 100 ] + 75 = 2275]
Rs. – 30.50
Solution – [30 x 100 ] + 50 = 3050]
Rs. – 25.75
Solution – [25 x 100 ] + 75 = 2575]
Rs. – 45.25
Solution – [45 x 100 ] + 25 = 4525]
Conversion of paise into rupees.
To convert paisa into rupees we have to divide paisa by 100.
Example:-
5050p = 5050 / 100 = 50.50
8975 p = 8975 / 100 = 89.75
Addition and Subtraction of money :-
Add rs. 75.25 and rs. 42.50
Add 375 rupees 25 paise and 115 rupees 45 paise
Money Word Problems 3rd grade
Shanaya bought a book for Rs. 110.50 and a notebook for Rs. 40.00.How much money does she spend in all?
Solution:-
Book Price = 110.50
NB Price = 40.00
Total Amount Spent = 110.50 + 40 = 150.50

Shanaya receives Rs. 1200 from her grandmother and Rs. 500.00 from her grandfather.How much money does he receive in all?
Solution:-
From Grandmother = 1200.00 Rs.
From Grandfather = 500.00
Total Amt Received = 1200 + 500 = 1700 Rs.
